African Waterhole Café
Dubbo
For over 40 years, Taronga Plains Western Zoo has been committed to science, conservation and educating the public about the many amazing animal species that call our planet home. With thousands of guests passing through the front gates every year, any upgrade needs to be meticulously planned and executed.
When the time came for the redevelopment of the African Waterhole Cafe, our government client knew that BSK Projects was right for the job.
Specifically, BSK Projects helped to transform the existing midway café precinct into the African Waterhole and Overlook café including a large water play area. A meerkat and tortoise exhibit was integrated into the cafe to further engage guests.
Along with design and project management, we organised procurement and programming of consultants and contractors, undertaking significant value engineering to transform the design vision into a practical and achievable reality.
As a requirement of the Zoo’s delivery strategy, the space was to remain live with no operations affected.
